    About Contractor Safety

Everyone owning safety can create a business that achieves long-term results.

Keeping everyone safe every day is a key focus at Lion. No matter where our people are based, everyone who works with us should know what to expect when working safely on a Lion site. Because it’s our people that make us great.

Under WHS laws, both Lion and our partners have responsibilities to ensure everyone's health and safety. This is a partnership, and by working together, we can ensure the job gets done while meeting these duties and keeping people safe.

Our Safety Essentials define what’s non-negotiable when it comes to safety. They are aligned to our high-risk areas and focus on areas where we know there is a higher risk of injury.  To ensure we keep Everyone Safe Everyday, we need everyone who comes to our sites to follow these core rules.

    Working with us saely

To emphasise and enhance our commitments to safety and well-being, Lion contractors must register and maintain their compliance on the Lion Induction & Prequalification Hub.

WorkMetrics manages this system on our behalf.

How does it benefit the contractors?

Registration ensures you align with Lion’s Safety Essentials, helping our people make safe decisions, and keeping everyone safe every day. The system is your opportunity to prove you have the systems, qualifications and competencies to work safely for Lion.

    • Have all inductions and training completed prior to coming to work

Which Lion AU and NZ contractors need to register?

Lion aims to keep everyone safe every day, and this process ensures that all people working on a Lion site meet minimum safety expectations. Therefore, every contractor working on a Lion site, venue, or location is expected to complete this process.

Labour hire provided by Programmed are not required to register.

Lion has a duty of care to ensure all contractors comply with work health and safety requirements. If you engage subcontractors to work on a Lion site, they should also register to identify their company. Please ensure that any subcontractors you engage follow the registration process before attending a Lion site.

    How does the system work?

Step 1 > Register your company

Start by verifying your business by ABN/NZBN number, enter your email address and password.

    Australian Companies Registration: https://www.onlineinduction.com/lion/registercompany.php

    New Zealand Companies Registration: https://www.onlineinduction.com/lion/registercompanynz.php

Follow the process to register your business by answering profile questions, selecting the Lion Sites and providing Lion Contract Person details.

Step 2 > Pay for registration

Your business structure determines business registration fees:

    • Australian Business - Annual Registration Fee will be $75 plus GST (AUD) and $25 plus GST for Sole Traders (AUD)
    • New Zealand Business - Annual Registration Fee will be $85 (NZD) and $25 (NZD) for Sole Traders

The fee covers the audit process required to verify your submission against the Lion’s Safe Work criteria.

The cost of registering a business in the system should be viewed as an operational cost for your business and forms part of the overall commercial contract when working with Lion.

    Step 3 > Complete Pre-qualification Form

Complete the pre-qualification form with the required licenses, insurance and safety performance details.

You will be prompted to upload copies of the licences and insurance for verification.

Documents may include but are not limited to:

    • Insurances such as Workers Compensation and Public Liability
    • Company Trade Licences
    • Safety Management System Certification

You’ll be emailed when your documents are verified or if any corrections are required to finalise your company registration.

Who do I contact if I have questions?

If you have questions about the process and requirements, please email Lion: [email protected]

If you need help navigating and using the system, please contact WorkMetrics:
