Iconic Australian beer brand Tooheys is taking to the road this summer, embarking on a tour that champions and supports two of its most important cornerstones: pubs and live music. These quintessential elements of Aussie culture are at the heart of the Tooheys identity, and the campaign aims to highlight the vital role each plays in supporting the other.
‘Tooheys on Tour’ is focused on celebrating a vibrant and strong nightlife and night-time economy, ensuring that pubs and live music remain a thriving part of the social fabric for years to come.
The first ‘Tooheys on Tour’ dates in 2025 will see the brand collaborate with the ARIA-nominated, and self-proclaimed Tooheys lovers, Dune Rats, adding three additional pub stops to their summer tour.
Danny Beus comments “We’ve been drinking Tooheys our whole adult lives!”
Brett Jansch adds “Nothin beats a cold blue tinnie of Tooheys, before a gig with mates, onstage at a sweaty show or after load out with the crew.”
“Growing up playing in all sorts of bands it was crucial to have local pubs to play at. Without pubs, bands can’t hone their craft, work out the sort of act they want to be and be inspired by other acts.” says Dune Rats.
At the centre of the collaboration is a rock-inspired reimagining of Tooheys’ iconic jingle. In true Dunies style, the band will close each set with their own electrifying rendition, delivering an unforgettable finale that celebrates Tooheys’ legacy while embracing the power of live music.
In addition, the ‘Tooheys On Tour’ collaboration will be donating Dune Rats merchandise and a $10k lump sum to Support Act, as well as featuring home-grown local bands, hand picked by the Dunies, to support at each show.
Bands can go in the running to support by posting a cover version of the iconic Tooheys jingle to their socials, tagging @DuneRats and @Tooheys (Facebook) or @tooheys_au (Instagram) (18+ and NSW bands only).
Karen Sterling-Levis, Brand Director – Core Beer adds “We’ve always believed that pubs and live music are the beating heart of Australian culture. They bring people together, foster creativity, and create unforgettable moments. With ‘Tooheys on Tour,’ we’re proud to support the venues, artists, and communities that make this all possible. Partnering with the Dune Rats—true Tooheys fans who live and breathe Aussie music—allows us to celebrate this incredible legacy in a bold and exciting way. Together, we’re raising a glass to the pubs and music that unite us all!”.
The ‘Tooheys on Tour’ dates are:
– 25 January: Entrance Leagues Club – Bateau Bay
– 31 January: Beach Road Hotel – Bondi Beach
– 1 February: Mona Vale Hotel – Mona Vale
About Tooheys
Founded in 1869 by two brothers and a team of brewers in New South Wales, Tooheys is one of the biggest beer brands in the country. Tooheys is part of the fabric of Australia and has always supported teams within Australia big and small. Back in the 1980s, when Lillee was taking wickets, and Border was smashing sixes, we asked punters ‘How Do You Feel?’ and the famous Tooheys jingle was born with punters replying; ‘I feel like a Tooheys or Two’. The Tooheys portfolio includes Tooheys New – an easy drinking Australian lager, along with flavoursome Tooheys Old, clean and crisp Tooheys Extra Dry and Tooheys Ultra Zero Carb., making it the top choice for when you feel like a Tooheys or two with your teammates.

About Dune Rats
Dune Rats formed in Brisbane, Australia during 2011 when two guitarists/vocalists Danny Beausa and drummer BC Michaels, decided to make a bunch of lunkheaded punk noise together. Dune Rats recorded their self-titled debut album in 2014, releasing it on their own Ratbag Records imprint. Their second album, The Kids Will Know It’s Bullshit, was produced by FIDLAR’s Zac Carper and opted for the same no-nonsense, all-fun approach. It was released on Ratbag in early 2017. 2020’s Hurry Up and Wait debuted on the Australian album charts at #1 as well as scoring an ARIA nomination for Best Rock Album. They set out on a tour that ended with a sold-out show in Melbourne on March 7, 2020. Their timing was excellent, as the COVID-19 pandemic put Australia into lockdown just a week later. Touring was put on hold, and after taking a break for a few weeks, they headed to Eden, a small fishing community in NSW, where they isolated together and worked on songs. Determined to make an album that was typical rowdy fun in Dune Rats tradition and not a typical introspective “lockdown album,” the guys delivered Real Rare Whale in 2022, which scored another #1 Australian album on the ARIA chart, and had the band nominated again for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album at 2022 ARIA awards. Now, the band return with new album ‘If It Sucks, Turn It Up’ out Aug 9, 2024; a rollercoaster of good times, hard truths, 90’s nostalgia, and pop fuzzy goodness.
