Swan soars back: the Iconic Swan sign returns to The Raffles Hotel

A look back at the previous Swan signs on top of The Raffles Hotel between the 70s and early 90s

Swan, a beloved Western Australian icon, is making a triumphant return to The Raffles Hotel in Perth after a 20-year hiatus. The iconic Swan sign, a familiar sight overlooking the Swan River, has been reinstated, marking a significant moment in the city's brewing history.

With the popularity of Swan Draught, it makes sense to reinstate this Western Australian icon on the Swan River, especially now that all Swan keg beer is made in Fremantle, ensuring the freshest beer brewed in Western Australia for Western Australians.

To celebrate this occasion, Raffles Hotel along with 22 other venues across Western Australia will offer $8 pints of Swan Draught from Thursday, 15 August 2024 to the end of September 2024. The offer will be exclusively available to members of The Pass; a loyalty program and app that is free to join and download. New members will also receive a $10 free credit instantly meaning Swan loving locals can raise a glass to this legendary partnership.

Danny Connolly, WA Field Sales Director for Lion, the brewer of Swan, commented on the return of the Swan sign stating, "Swan and The Raffles Hotel have a long and intertwined history, both being iconic institutions in Western Australia. The return of the Swan sign to The Raffles Hotel is a momentous occasion that not only celebrates our shared heritage but also reaffirms our commitment to the WA community. We are excited to reintroduce the Swan sign to Raffles and look forward to many more years of creating unforgettable memories together!"

Simone Rea, Venue Manager of Raffles Hotel, echoed this sentiment, adding, "The return of the Swan sign is a nostalgic reminder of our shared history and serves as a testament to the enduring relationship between two WA icons. We invite everyone to join us in celebrating this special occasion.”

The return of the Swan sign to The Raffles Hotel follows another exciting development in the brand's history. Last year, Swan announced the comeback of its popular Swan Gold beer exclusively in WA pubs, almost two decades after it was last brewed in 2003.

Swan Draught proudly boasts 815 distribution points across Western Australia, ensuring that this historic lager remains readily available to its devoted fans. With an impressive annual output of 5,566,000 litres sold, nearly 10 million pints of Swan Draught are enjoyed in WA each year.

The revitalisation of Swan’s presence in Perth and partnership with the Raffles Hotel represents a celebration of local pride, history, and the unbreakable bond between a beloved beer and its community.
