Frontier Software Pty Ltd Cyber Incident

Lion has been made aware that current and former team members are being contacted directly by Frontier Software Pty Ltd, a payroll platform company we previously engaged, regarding a cyber-attack and data breach they experienced at the end of 2021.

Unfortunately, this breach has impacted the personal information of some of our current and former employees.

As required under legislation, Frontier Software has endeavoured to contact all impacted individuals regarding this incident. Lion will in parallel also endeavour to contact the impacted individuals.

If you, or someone you know worked for Lion between 2005 and 2015, and you are concerned that you may have been impacted but are yet to receive any formal communication from Frontier Software, please contact [email protected]

For context, Frontier Software performs payroll management services for large companies (such as Lion) and to perform that service, Lion provides information under contract. Whilst Lion ceased using Frontier’s services in 2015 (after using them for a ten-year period from 2005-2015), Lion has statutory and other obligations to maintain these records – for instance, if a future audit finds a payment discrepancy, then this data is required to resolve the situation. At the time of the data breach, Frontier was contracted to maintain a record of the payroll database for this purpose.

Please note, Lion’s systems have not been impacted and we are confident of the security of our network.

What can I do to protect my personal information?

Frontier Software has informed us that it has reported the incident to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and relevant state police.

Where a tax file number (TFN) has been accessed, Frontier Software is advising the Australian Tax Office (ATO) so they can apply additional security measures and monitor for any potential misuse of that TFN.

If you are concerned about the potential misuse of your personal information, Frontier Software also arranged free support from IDCARE, Australia’s national identity and cybersecurity community support service.

If you wish to access IDCARE's services, please engage an IDCARE Case Manager via IDCARE’s Get Help Web Form at https://www.idcare.org/contact/get-help or by calling 1800 595 160. When accessing IDCARE’s services please provide the referral code FDI2-ID.
