2020 certainly saw Australians getting more creative and innovative with their activities at home. Beer lovers in particular flocked to home brewing as a pastime, and Little Creatures responded by launching its first-ever competition for home brewers, Little Home Brewers.
Due to popular demand, Little Creatures is excited to be bringing Little Home Brewers back in 2021, but with a brand-new challenge that will undoubtedly get some extraordinary beers brewing across the country.
With a little help from the brewers at Little Creatures, you can get involved from home, with the chance to win a money can’t buy prize (along with some delicious beer).
The major prize will see the winning Little Home Brewer flown to Fremantle, Western Australia with a mate, where their beer will be brewed at scale and launched at the Little Creatures Oktoberfest celebration in Fremantle and Perth Beer Fest as well as enjoyed by hundreds of people right across Australia as a Little Creatures limited release.
Little Creatures will be running a series of exclusive Masterclasses with their brewers which will help you brew some cracking beers for the challenge. They’ll be there, at the ready to answer any of your home brewing questions and share the tricks of the trade.
“There is so much creativity and talent in the Australian home brewing community and we can’t wait to see what beers this year’s challenge inspires!
“This year’s challenge is to rethink what an Oktoberfest beer could look like if the festival were launched here in Australia in 2021. It is a celebration of brewing that will hopefully encourage a range of truly modern interpretations of classic Bavarian styles that will be brewed in homes right across Australia.
“Last year’s challenge winner Lily really proved that you don’t need years of brewing experience to brew a winning beer! Her very first Lemongrass and Ginger Pale Ale was inspired, well-balanced and fit the brief perfectly which saw her take the inaugural title.”
Lily Kerr, winner of the 2020 Little Home Brewers crown added: “Little Home Brewers was an amazing opportunity to work with a fun brief, be creative with beer and dive headfirst into home brewing. I learnt a lot from Little Creatures' process and having my beer poured at Freo Beerfest was so surreal and special.”
