Little Creatures To Make A Big Difference To One Woman’s Life This #IWD

    5 March 2020
It’s the little things that make a difference at Little Creatures. It’s our reason for being. This International Women’s Day we want to do our little bit to make a big difference to one woman’s life and the planet, because Mother Nature Needs Her Daughters.

That’s the motto of Homeward Bound – a not-for-profit with a mission to nurture the talent of female leaders in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine (STEMM) to make the world a better place.

On Sunday 8 March 2020 – International Women’s Day – Little Creatures will officially launch the IWD Ale – proudly brewed by the Little Creatures Fremantle brew team, led by Jess Curtin and Ranga Mapondera.

Proceeds from beer sales across many of Lion’s hospitality venues on Sunday 8 March – including Little Creatures Fremantle and Geelong, Little Creatures Mohamed Ali Lane Singapore, Byron Bay Brewery, and Tiny Mountain in Townsville – will go towards funding a $25,000USD scholarship with Homeward Bound – a transformational leadership initiative for women with a background in STEMM from around the world.

The scholarship recipient is Dr Philista Malaki, a research scientist at the National Museums of Kenya.

The state-of-the-art Homeward Bound leadership program runs over 12 months and culminates in an all-female expedition to Antarctica where participants observe first-hand the influence of human activities on the environment and are upskilled in the leadership tools needed to tackle global-scale change to enable more women to take their place as leaders.

Little Creatures brewer Jess Curtin said: “As female brewers we are all too familiar with breaking down tired stereotypes. This year’s campaign theme for IWD is #eachforequal and by brewing this beer we want to contribute to a more equal world for all.”

“We both have backgrounds in STEMM and we’re so proud to be able to support Homeward Bound in this way – tackling two major global issues at once – advancing females in STEMM and working together to address leadership change and working towards a sustainable future for our planet,” Ranga Mapondera added.

“This is all about creating a brighter future for us all. We are pleased to see women at the forefront of these missions. And at Little Creatures – it’s all about doing the little things that make a big difference. So, come in and have a beer this Sunday to mark #IWD. Celebrate this year’s theme of #EachForEqual and know that one of our little brews will contribute to something much bigger than all of us.”
