The Brooklyn Brewery and Lion are excited to announce that Brooklyn Stonewall IPA will #pourproudly for the first time in Australia in the lead up to Sydney Mardi Gras.
A special brew in the Brooklyn portfolio, the beer was created in collaboration with The Stonewall Inn, New York City to celebrate The Stonewall’s rich history and to support the continuing work of The Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative. The Stonewall Inn has been a beacon for the global LGBQTI+ Pride movement since the infamous Stonewall Riots in 1969. In 2017 Brooklyn Brewery joined The Stonewall Inn to help launch The Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative – a platform that channels decades of activism towards supporting and advancing LGBTQI+ communities in the USA and around the world by raising awareness, and providing assistance and education.
The Stonewall IPA is a refreshing 4.8% Citra hopped session style IPA. It features a hint of grapefruit and citrus peel on the nose, with a crisp yet mellow finish.

Here in Australia, proceeds will be donated to local charity the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation, Australia’s oldest community-based HIV organisation committed to providing client-centred care to help people living with HIV thrive.”

CEO of Bobby Goldsmith Foundation Nick Lawson said: “BGF is delighted to have been chosen as the community partner for the Brooklyn Stonewall IPA special brew. We are proud of our history both within the LGBTIQ+ community and the Mardi Gras parade and we hope that this partnership helps to raise awareness of the issues still facing people living with HIV today. These funds will go towards providing emotional and financial support to all people living with HIV who need it.”
The Stonewall IPA will be available nationally in both 355ml cans and on tap from 10 February. Festivities will kick off with a beer tapping at Australia’s very own Stonewall Hotel on Oxford Street in Darlinghurst on 6 February, from 6-8.30pm ahead of a wider release to venues nationally including key Oxford Street venues The Universal, The Oxford Hotel, Kinselas and the Brighton Hotel. Pack will be ranged nationally via Dan Murphy’s and in key independent trade.
