Get the Facts on Alcohol

The real prize in tackling misuse is a whole-of-community effort to champion positive social behaviour and consumption, while ensuring people have the information they need to make good choices when they are drinking.

What Is a Standard Drink?

It's important to get familiar with the standard drink so you can stay in control when you're getting social.

A standard drink is based on how much alcohol the average person can process in one hour. You can't speed this process up, and your body can only deal with one drink at a time. So, if you have three standard drinks, it will take around three hours for your body to process them.

You can find out how many standard drinks are in a pack or bottle by looking for the standard drinks symbol.
