South Australians to Make Tough Call in Crucial Election
7 June 2016:- People of South Australia, YOU are being called upon to make a tough call in the upcoming election. Your choice will determine the outcome of what’s been called the most important election in 40 years* with four strong but very different candidates lining up to fight out the contest.
The election to which we are referring is, of course, the one being held to decide the new packaging for our much-loved Farmers Union Iced Coffee. Never has there been an issue more important to the identity and psyche of the people of South Australia**.
Farmers Union Iced Coffee holds a very special place in our hearts, so we have been called upon to make this crucial decision. Four design candidates have been put forward to battle it out in this fiercely contested poll.
We are being asked to choose between ‘The Original’, ‘The Real McCoy’, ‘The Straight Shooter’ and ‘The Wild Card’. In statements issued today, all four leading candidates have vowed to ensure that future generations can continue to enjoy Farmers Union Iced Coffee and to preserve the proud, 40-year history of our favourite iced coffee brand.
The Farmers Union story started in a big decade for our state. Hot on the heels of bringing the pie floater and Cold Chisel to global prominence, 1977 saw Farmers Union Iced Coffee become the next South Australian invention to make a mark on the wider world. We stand proud beside these home-grown heroes.
Launched as an idea by a co-operative of passionate South Australian Dairy Farmers to boost milk sales, the brand has achieved icon status in South Australia and continues to be the number one selling milk based beverage in the state year after year***.
So, people of South Australia – the time has come to make the tough call and have your say!
