Esra Ozege awarded prestigious 2018 Joe Berry Award
Friday 6 July 2018: Lion Dairy & Drinks’ National Business Manager for Woolworths Esra Ozege has been awarded the prestigious 2018 Joe Berry Australian Retail Industry Executive Award.
The Joe Berry Award is an essay-based program awarded to the best young executive talent in the Australian retail industry. The award was presented to Esra in Sydney last week.
The Award is globally unique because it allows entrants, under 35, from all parts of the retail industry to submit 2500-word essays for judging. Now in its 32nd year, the Award receives entries from employees in retailer, supplier, service provider and wholesaler companies. The prize is an organized world retail tour for the winner.
This year the entrants were able to choose from five topics and five finalists and they then presented their essays to the judging panel which consisted of 20 Industry senior executives and two guest judges lead by Award patron Bernie Brookes AM. Bernie won the first Joe Berry Award in 1986.
Each finalist was then given one hour to present their essay and answer questions from the judging panel.
Esra wrote on the Impact of algorithms and transparent pricing in the retail industry.
She is pictured here receiving the award from Bernie Brookes AM at the annual Presentation Dinner at the Sofitel Wentworth in Sydney last Thursday night in front of 280 guests. Esra will now have a year as incumbent winner and will have a number of guest speaker roles as well as her prize tour.
The Joe Berry Award is run by the ASMCA and is sponsored by more than 20 leading retail industry companies.
